Yaaya is a platform for black girls and women in Europe from all walks of life to showcase their achievements and ambitions.

Yaaya recognises that ethnic minority girls and women in Europe face societal barriers as a result of their gender and race - the double jeopardy hypothesis. For black girls and women specifically, the result is a social invisibility, compounded by the absence of positive and public images of black girls and women. To put it simply, by focusing on motivating stories of black girls and women, we first celebrate achievement, and then hope to inspire ambition.

Our motto – “Those who have, Those who are, and Those who will” – represents our deep-seated belief in the ability of black girls and women from different generations, cultures and backgrounds to be real-life examples of ambition and aspiration.
